This week Governor Rauner vetoed a $215 million funding bill for CPS negotiated as part of the mid-year stop-gap budget. CPS had already included the funds in this year’s budget. The IL Senate overrode the veto, but the IL House did not take a vote on it and have now adjourned until January. The House could convene a special session to vote before January, but it's not clear they will have the 71 votes required to override.

Without this $215M, Chicago's schools already operating under austerity conditions will likely be asked to cut further.
