Raise Your Hand/Action has been doing a series of parent trainings to help people sharpen their skills when they advocate with elected officials and other decision makers. These are fun, challenging and interactive trainings that will apply to current legislation we're working on. The skills and methods you learn will be applicable to other bills and issues as well.

This will not be a lecture style training, but we will do exercises to help you better understand the public arena you are acting in. You will be challenged to think about who you are and how the people in power will try to take advantage of you. This is something that you may find unsettling, revealing but ultimately empowering. You will gain some practical organizing framing and action skills, but, most importantly, you will build stronger relationships with each other and leave better prepared to control, prevent and create change in the public arena in a powerful, principled and ethical way. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes. Come ready to think and to play.
