Action alert: let's get the elected school board bill passed

The next few days are crucial to the effort of getting a fully elected, representative school board for Chicago Public Schools. Can you help us make democratic governance a reality for CPS?

Raise Your Hand Action is part of a city-wide coalition working for many years on this issue. In March this year, HB557, a bill that would establish a fully Elected Representative School Board for Chicago, passed in the IL House 110-4.

It now needs to be voted on in the Senate. The state legislature will be back in Springfield a session this Tuesday Nov 15th, and we need to take action to bring some democracy and transparency to public education in Chicago.

Go here to find out about how you can help and sign up to take action this week to get HB557 passed by the IL General Assembly. We need people making phone calls, door-knocking, and in Springfield. Together we can get this done!
